Job Description

CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced indirect tax professional to join our client in Singapore at Director level. The successful candidate will lead Goods and Services Tax advisory delivery, support practice development, and act as the firm's senior technical authority on GST compliance, recovery and digital-reporting obligations. Specific qualifications, regulatory fluency and technical breadth are detailed in the sections that follow.

Confidential Client. Applying to this position means that you are interested to have an initial confidential discussion about how we can help you to identify and join a new accounting-firm practice. With your authorisation we will exclusively run the entire application and recruitment process for you, keeping you apprised at every step. With over 30 years' combined experience of helping the most talented accounting, audit, tax and advisory professionals to make safe, well-judged moves into rewarding new roles, we have the experience, network and ability to help you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead GST advisory engagements, including supply classification, input-tax recovery, partial-exemption and zero-rating positions for clients across financial services, real estate, logistics and digital sectors.
  • Advise on the 9% GST rate and on registration, de-registration and group-registration strategies under the GST Act.
  • Guide clients through InvoiceNow adoption and the phased GST e-invoicing requirements, and advise on systems and data-readiness implications.
  • Advise on the Overseas Vendor Registration regime, imported services and the Reverse Charge mechanism.
  • Manage IRAS GST audits, the Assisted Compliance Assurance Programme (ACAP) and voluntary-disclosure submissions.
  • Support origination and proposals, and develop relationships with finance and tax leaders to build a sustainable indirect-tax book.
  • Supervise and develop managers and associates, and own technical quality across deliverables and health-check reviews.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Chartered Accountant of Singapore (ISCA) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Accredited Tax Advisor or Accredited Tax Practitioner (GST) with the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP), or clear eligibility to attain accreditation.
  • At least ten years of indirect-tax experience, with substantial time in professional services.
  • Detailed knowledge of the GST Act, the 9% standard rate and the zero-rating and exemption provisions.
  • Practical experience of the Reverse Charge and Overseas Vendor Registration regimes.
  • Familiarity with InvoiceNow and the direction of GST e-invoicing and digital reporting.
  • Experience managing IRAS GST audits and the ACAP framework.
  • Strong analytical skills applied to high-volume transaction data and recovery methodologies.
  • Excellent client-facing and report-writing abilities.
  • Right to work in Singapore, or eligibility to obtain the relevant work pass.

Preferred Experience:

  • Sector depth in financial services or real estate, where partial exemption is material.
  • Experience advising on cross-border supplies and place-of-supply analysis.
  • Exposure to indirect-tax technology, automation and data-analytics tooling.
  • Knowledge of customs and trade-facilitation schemes administered by Singapore Customs.
  • A record of thought leadership or professional-body technical contribution.
  • Experience supporting clients through GST rate-change transitions.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.

Next Steps:

This opportunity is open to candidates who hold or can obtain the right to work in Singapore and who match the above criteria. Please apply to receive prompt contact from an experienced and specialist accounting-firm recruitment consultant.
