
The Indirect Tax Data Analyst will support indirect tax technology initiatives across multiple jurisdictions, including VAT, GST, and transaction taxes for sales and purchasing activities. This role will leverage data analytics, automation, and process improvement techniques to enhance tax reporting, compliance, audit readiness, and operational efficiency. Acting as a key bridge between tax, finance, and technology teams, the analyst will manage tax system changes, support data flow mapping to external government portals, identify risks through data analysis, and contribute to tax technology projects and emerging business needs.
About the role:
Manage tax system changes related to rates, product/service taxability, exemptions, ticket requests, testing, and validation.
Drive automation, analytics, and process improvements across tax functions in partnership with internal stakeholder teams.
Map and understand data flows from source systems to external government portals.
Perform data analysis to identify risks, support compliance, and assist with audit-related activities.
Provide ad hoc support for tax-related projects, special initiatives, and emerging business needs.
About You
Strong analytical, data, and problem-solving skills.
Project management and stakeholder communication experience.
Ability to identify opportunities to add value and improve processes.
Experience working with tax, finance, and technology systems.
Knowledge of data modeling, SQL, and data warehousing concepts.
Understanding of automation and analytics tools.
Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Computer Science, or related field).
2+ years of experience in data, tax, or analytics roles.
Familiarity with AI, SQL and data tools (e.g. Alteryx, Snowflake, AWS, Python).
Experience in indirect tax (VAT/GST) and tax engines (e.g. ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination)
Exposure to automation, analytics, and data governance frameworks.
