Why does this job exist and why is it critical?​

The Indirect Procurement Category Manager oversees strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for indirect spend categories. The role focuses on delivering cost savings, optimising commercial value, ensuring procurement compliance, and building strong stakeholder and supplier partnerships to support business objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement priorities
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing and tendering activities, including RFI/RFP management, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiations, and contract awards
  • Drive cost optimisation, value engineering, spend consolidation, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise commercial value and achieve savings targets
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, monitor performance against agreed KPIs/SLAs, and drive vendor accountability and service excellence
  • Provide commercial and procurement advisory to stakeholders, including sourcing approaches, financial modelling, contract terms, and supplier selection recommendations
  • Analyse spend data, market trends, supplier capabilities, and category performance to support strategic decision-making, budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning
  • Collaborate with Legal and Contract Management teams on contract reviews, risk mitigation, compliance, and governance requirements
  • Prepare management reports, tender evaluation outcomes, and business cases, including recommendations for sourcing, contract awards, and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards
  • Support procurement operations, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor onboarding, and procurement documentation

What you need to have for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in procurement or category management
  • Experience supporting or managing Network, IT, or Commercial Services categories, including sourcing initiatives
  • Strong expertise in supplier management, with proven ability to engage, influence, and communicate effectively with vendors
  • Solid experience in contract negotiation, including commercial terms and conditions
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively
  • High level of autonomy with the ability to manage responsibilities independently
  • Proven expertise in strategic sourcing and supplier management, including leading negotiations and constructively challenging stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, ERP, and e-procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba)
  • Strong contract management expertise, including drafting and reviewing contractual terms and conditions
