Join a global leader in financial services where you will play a critical role in strengthening the control environment of our Investment Banking business. You will partner with regional and global stakeholders to drive controls governance, risk management, and regulatory excellence.

The Investment Banking Control Management team is part of both the APAC and Global Banking Control Management teams. As the India Investment Banking Control Manager, you will work with the Investment Banking Control team in APAC, as well as business and functional partners to establish governance and systems that identify, quantify, manage and monitor risk at the most granular level and establish risk tolerances and risk management procedures and tools in consultation with the business and relevant partners.

The India Investment Banking Control Manager reports to the APAC Investment Banking Control Lead. The role will be based in Mumbai and will be mainly covering the Global Investment Banking business (Coverage, ECM, DCM and M&A) in India. Notable responsibilities include project management for regulatory changes in India, clearly understanding local regulations to adapt processes into corporate procedures; regional and global Controls program execution; Controls metric reporting and analytics; Controls strategy, training and communications; audit and compliance testing; regulatory exam management, in partnership with the Global Banking Control Management team, the APAC Control Management team and other key functional groups.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the local Control governance model for India Investment Banking, including integration with the Global Banking governance framework.
  • Manage the implementation of regulatory change in India and partnering with Legal, Compliance, Business, Technology and Conflicts for potential new business initiatives.
  • Responsible for producing analysis of control issues and control metrics for senior management, projects and local/regional Control Forums.
  • Develop appropriate metrics and reporting to ensure adequate visibility and transparency of risk events impacting the Investment Banking business in India.
  • Execute major regional and global control programs impacting India Investment Banking.
  • Responsible for embedding the regional best practice governance model in the location while ensuring local regulatory requirements/expectations are met.
  • Develop and implement training materials and communications as well as execute regional Controls programs and follow ups in the location.
  • Coordinate with Compliance to help manage regulatory exams impacting India Investment Banking.
  • Manage internal and external audits which impact India Investment Banking.
  • Collaborate with the APAC Control Management team on relevant India initiatives which impact Investment Banking.
  • Understand business and process changes and ensure execution in a timely manner in support of the location.
  • Conduct deep dive reviews into issues and risk events as required to ensure all control gaps are identified, reviewed and managed appropriately.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Significant professional experience (6-10 years) in a regulatory, risk and/or business background with demonstrated career progression
  • Relevant understanding of Investment Banking products: ECM, DCM and M&A.
  • Knowledge around securities business and regulatory environment in India and Asia Pacific.
  • Excellent coordination, analytical, quantitative and control skills.
  • Experience in dealing with senior management.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Presence and ability to engage with senior management.
  • Flexibility and ability to partner with other team members across global time zones.
  • BA (or equivalent) degree required.
  • Specialist experience in a control discipline (preferred).
