Job Description

Liquid Personnel is recruiting an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) for its client in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people by ensuring their care plans are robust, effective, and aligned with statutory requirements.
The role is primarily office-based, with some flexibility for home working. It requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, along with excellent communication and organisational skills.

What will your responsibilities be?

In this role, you will:

  • Chair Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, ensuring care plans meet statutory requirements and promote positive outcomes.
  • Monitor and track progress against care plans, escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Ensure the voice of the child is central to all decision-making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, managers, and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Provide professional challenge and oversight to ensure compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports following reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Post-qualified experience in children’s services, ideally in an IRO role.
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work.
