Job Description

Independent Music Artist – Early Platform Programme

Location: Remote / Global
Engagement: Independent Artist Programme
Earnings: Direct artist earnings through platform participation
Initial Cohort: Limited to approximately 100 artists

Our client, an innovative music technology start-up, is seeking ambitious independent music artists to join the first cohort of artists on its new music and fan-engagement platform.

This opportunity is specifically designed for artists who consider their music to be a serious part of their career and want to build sustainable income from their creativity.

The platform has been built around a simple belief:

Artists should not need millions of streams before their music starts generating meaningful income.

Instead of relying solely on passive streaming, the platform enables artists to build direct relationships with the people who genuinely support their work and monetise that community.

You do not need thousands of followers to be considered. You do, however, need a minimum of 10 genuine supporters who you reasonably believe would actively support your music if they were given the opportunity to support you directly.

These could be existing fans, friends, family or people already following your musical journey.

As an example, 100 genuine supporters on our client's platform could generate an artist at least US$400 per month in recurring income.

For many independent artists, significantly larger streaming audiences currently generate far less.

The question is therefore not simply:

How many people listen to my music?

It is:

How many people genuinely support me as an artist?

Our client is initially looking to select approximately 100 independent artists to join the platform ahead of its wider rollout.

Mandatory Application Questions

All questions must be answered. Applications submitted without the requested information may be automatically rejected.

  1. Are you currently an independent music artist, and have you previously released original music publicly?

    Yes / No
  2. Please provide a link to your Spotify, Apple Music or other main artist profile.
  3. Approximately how many monthly listeners do you currently have?
  4. Please provide links to your main artist social media profiles and state approximately how many followers you have.
  5. Do you have a minimum of 10 people who you genuinely believe would financially support your music if they had the opportunity to support you directly rather than simply listening through a streaming platform?

    Yes / No

If yes, approximately how many genuine supporters do you believe you currently have?
  6. Did you earn any income from your music during the last 12 months?

    Yes / No
  7. Approximately how much did you earn from music streaming during the last 12 months?
  8. Roughly how much did you earn in total from your music and music-related social media activity during the last 12 months?

Key Responsibilities

As one of the first artists selected for the platform, you will be expected to:

  • Create and maintain an active artist profile.
  • Upload and showcase your music and relevant artist content.
  • Introduce your existing supporters to the platform.
  • Bring a minimum of 10 genuine supporters onto the platform.
  • Engage regularly with your supporters and build your artist community.
  • Make active use of the platform's artist monetisation tools.
  • Promote your music and platform presence through your existing channels.
  • Explore and use the functionality made available to you.
  • Provide constructive feedback on your experience where requested.
  • Participate in occasional testing, surveys or feedback sessions during the initial rollout.
  • Report technical or user-experience issues where identified.
  • Treat your artist presence, audience and earning opportunities professionally.
  • Where appropriate, introduce other credible independent artists within your network who may also benefit from joining the platform.

Requirements

To be considered, you should:

  • Be an independent music artist actively pursuing or developing a career in music.
  • Have previously created, recorded or released original music.
  • Have music available online that we can review.
  • Have an existing audience or community, even if that audience is currently small.
  • Have a minimum of 10 genuine supporters who you reasonably believe would actively support your music through the platform.
  • Be willing to introduce those supporters to the platform.
  • Be comfortable engaging directly with your audience rather than relying solely on passive streaming.
  • Be willing to actively use the platform and its artist tools.
  • Be reliable, responsive and serious about developing your music career.
  • Be open to providing occasional feedback during the early stages of the platform's rollout.

Ideal Artist Profile

We are not necessarily looking for the artists with the largest following

An artist with 50,000 followers but little genuine engagement is not automatically more suitable than an artist with 500 followers and 50 people who genuinely care about their music.

We are interested in real audiences, not vanity metrics

You may currently have 50 monthly listeners or 50,000.

What matters is whether people genuinely care about your music and whether you are prepared to build a direct relationship with them.

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Takes your music career seriously.
  • Is actively building an audience independently.
  • Understands that a successful independent music career requires building a community as well as releasing music.
  • Has people who regularly listen to, comment on, share or otherwise support your work.
  • Is comfortable promoting yourself and communicating directly with your audience.
  • Wants greater control over how you monetise your music.
  • Wants to reduce your reliance on streaming royalties alone.
  • Is prepared to be proactive in developing your career and generating income from your creativity.

Earnings & Artist Benefits

Selected artists will have the opportunity to earn directly through the platform by developing and monetising their supporter community.

As part of the initial artist cohort, you will also receive:

  • Early access to the full platform.
  • Access to all artist functionality available during the initial rollout.
  • Access to certain features that may become paid or premium services for artists joining the platform in future.
  • The opportunity to establish and grow your artist presence before the platform's wider public rollout.
  • The ability to begin generating income directly from your supporters from the outset.
  • Greater direct engagement with the people who support your music.
  • The opportunity to provide feedback that may influence future artist functionality.
  • Access to a growing community of independent artists and music supporters.
  • Priority consideration for artist performance opportunities at the platform's planned 2028/2029 music festival.
  • The opportunity to recommend other credible independent artists from your network for consideration.
  • Remote participation from anywhere in the world.

There is no fee to apply or participate in the initial programme.

Why This Matters

For independent artists, having listeners does not necessarily mean having income.

Our client wants to change that.

Rather than asking artists to spend years chasing enormous streaming numbers before their work generates meaningful returns, the platform has been designed to make smaller, highly engaged communities economically valuable

If 100 people genuinely value your music enough to support you directly, those 100 people could generate at least US$400 in recurring monthly income
through the platform.

That changes the question from:

How do I get millions of streams?

to:

How do I find and build relationships with the people who genuinely value what I create?

Interested?

If you are serious about building your music career, have already started developing an audience and believe you have at least 10 people who would genuinely support you, we would like to hear from you.

Complete all mandatory application questions and provide the requested links to your music and social media profiles.

You don't need a huge audience.

You need a real one.
