Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Independent Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing your assigned station, preparing high-quality dishes, and ensuring seamless service. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, maintains high standards of hygiene, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Execute daily mise-en-place, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning proteins to ensure readiness for service.
  • Station Management: Independently run a specific station (e.g., Sauté, Grill, or Larder) and ensure all dishes are prepared to exact specifications.
  • Quality Control: Taste and inspect food components before service to ensure consistent flavor, temperature, and presentation.
  • Efficiency: Manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining speed and accuracy during peak hours.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with HACCP and local food safety regulations.
  • Inventory Support: Monitor stock levels at your station, minimize waste, and report shortages to the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth communication and timely delivery of orders.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Line Cook, Station Chef, or Independent Cook in a high-volume professional kitchen.
  • Education: Culinary degree or formal apprenticeship is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong command of various cooking methods (grilling, roasting, poaching, etc.) and expert knife skills.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Handler’s permit or food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work in a high-temperature environment, and lift up to 20kg if necessary.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
