Job Description

Creditstar Sweden AB is a Swedish consumer finance company, readying itself to apply for a Credit Market Company (Kreditmarknadsbolag) license, operating under the supervision of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen).

The company forms part of an international financial services group with operations across multiple European markets. As part of strengthening its governance framework for its planned activities as a Credit Market Company, Creditstar Sweden is seeking an experienced Independent Board Member to join its Board of Directors.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide independent oversight, challenge, and strategic guidance to management and fellow Board Members. The Board plays an active role in overseeing strategy, financial performance, governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and customer protection.

Requirements

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Board or senior executive experience within regulated financial services.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Sound commercial judgement and strategic thinking.
  • High levels of integrity, ethics, independence of mind, and professionalism.
  • The ability to provide constructive challenge while maintaining a collaborative approach.
  • Swedish language proficiency.

The successful candidate will be subject to and must pass the suitability assessment (lämplighetsprövning) in line with applicable regulations.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be necessary:

  • Banking, consumer finance, lending, payments, or fintech.
  • Swedish financial regulation, including AML/CFT.
  • Experience interacting with Finansinspektionen and/or other financial regulators.
  • Credit risk, treasury, capital adequacy, or risk management.
  • Audit, accounting, or financial reporting.
  • Growth-stage or regulated financial institutions.
  • Tech, IT, and cybersecurity.
  • Product development.

Time Commitment

Sufficient availability to perform the necessary Board duties, considering any other professional commitments: approximately 6-10 Board and committee meetings per year, together with preparation time and occasional involvement in strategic or regulatory matters.
