GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for daily supervision of teams that process applications, complete redeterminations and changes within the Family Medicaid programs. Assigns work to case maintenance staff, reviews eligibility documentation, and ensures all required information is collected and accurately recorded. Coordinates workflow within the unit and across other departments. Oversees staff development, including training and onboarding new employees. Plans, evaluates, and reorganizes eligibility program functions to support effective service delivery. Collaborates with departmental staff to improve methods and procedures for eligibility services. Screen, interviews, and recommends prospective candidates for employment. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrate in-depth and considerable knowledge of public assistance policies and Medicaid eligibility requirements.
• Understands the needs and challenges faced by disadvantaged individuals.
• Capable of training, guiding, and supervising employees performing eligibility functions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining positive relationships with applicants and colleagues.
• Able to represent the eligibility program effectively in departmental meetings and community settings or events.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree and three years of eligibility or social services administrative experience, OR

High school diploma and six years of experience determining eligibility within a Social Services program, including at least one year in a supervisory role.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in multiple public assistance programs.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience with NC FAST system.

Preference will be given to applicants with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
