DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for ensuring accurate and timley administration of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) in accordannce with federal, state, and county policies. Maintain strong working knowledge of Alcohol & Drug Treatment Centers (ADTC) requirements and ensure compliance with state performance benchmarks. Provide direct supervision, coachingm and performance feedback to FNS caseworkers. Review casework for accuracy, completeness, and policy adherence. Maintain knowledge of FNS policy, eligibility criteria, timeliness requirements and documentation standards. Train and support staff in system updates and best practices for documentation and tracking. Prepare reports for leadership on unit performance, error rates, timeliness, and operational needs. Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and professionally. Monitor workflow to ensure timley completion of applications, recertifications, and changes. Performs other duties relative to work described.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Considerable knowledge of public assistance policies and eligibility requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of needs and problems of disadvantaged persons.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and supervise employees performing the eligibility duties, and maintain satisfactory working relationships with applicants, and others contacted within the course of work.
  • Ability to represent the eligibility program in departmental meetings and community conferences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four year degree and 3 years eligibility work or administrative experience in Social Services OR graduation from high school and six years of experience determining eligibility in a Social Services program, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Must have current NC FAST Level One and Core Certifications.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in public assistance programs such as FNS, Childcare, Medicaid or other eligibllity programs is required.
  • Experience in NC FAST
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish)
