Job Description

Position Summary
The In-Room Dining Server delivers food, beverages, and amenities to guest rooms and designated hotel areas while providing exceptional guest service. This role ensures orders are accurate, presented properly, and delivered promptly while maintaining hotel service, safety, and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties
• Deliver food, beverages, and amenities to guest rooms using trays, hot box carts, or golf carts.
• Ensure all orders are complete, accurate, and properly prepared before leaving the kitchen.
• Set up trays with appropriate condiments, utensils, and presentation standards.
• Describe menu items, preparation methods, and pricing to guests.
• Recommend and upsell food and beverage items to enhance the guest experience and maximize revenue.
• Process guest payments accurately and reconcile cash banks and payment methods at the end of shift.
• Submit all tickets, vouchers, and collected payments according to department procedures.
• Follow all food handling, sanitation, TIPS®, and health department guidelines.
• Inspect guest floors for in-room dining trays and tables and return them to the department.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, storage areas, and workspaces.
• Follow all hotel safety policies, PPE requirements, and HAZMAT procedures.
• Report accidents, maintenance issues, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
Additional Duties
• Ensure alcoholic beverages are not served to minors or intoxicated guests.
• Notify management of guest complaints, disruptive behavior, or intoxication concerns.
• Complete assigned side work before, during, and after shifts.
• Provide a high-quality dining experience while maintaining professionalism and attentiveness.
• Resolve guest concerns within scope of authority and escalate issues when necessary.
• Report unusual incidents, missing items, or security concerns to management or Security.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
• Previous food service or hospitality experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service standards.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, liquor, and beverage offerings preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems and hotel communication systems preferred.
Skills & Abilities
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information.
Certifications & Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• TIPS® alcohol awareness certification required upon employment.
• Valid Food Handler Card required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record may be required for golf cart deliveries.
• Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local alcohol service laws and health regulations.
Scheduling Requirements
• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and alternate shifts based on business needs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the property.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and balancing.
• Ability to transport trays, carts, food, and beverages throughout the hotel.
• Ability to safely handle hot plates, trays, and glassware.
• Exposure to kitchen heat, varying weather conditions, noise, cleaning chemicals, and slippery surfaces.
• Close visual acuity and hearing required for guest interaction and order accuracy.
• Ability to work safely in narrow aisles, guest corridors, kitchens, and service areas.
Safety & Compliance
• Wear non-slip, oil-resistant shoes.
• Follow all OSHA, PPE, sanitation, and hotel safety procedures.
• Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain compliance with hotel HAZMAT and MSDS procedures.
