Your role and responsibilities

In this role, as a Platform Owner – Metal Enclosures you will oversee the development, localization, enhancement, and lifecycle management of ABB’s Metal Enclosures and Distribution Board portfolio. You will guide a team of engineers in delivering innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and market requirements.

The role will support for the ABB India Ltd for Electrification Smart Power Business to be based at Nelamangala, BANGALORE, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• R&D Project Leadership: Manage end-to-end R&D projects, ensuring project milestones, quality objectives, timelines, and effective technical decision-making.
• Product Development & Innovation: Manage new product development, localization, customization, product enhancements, and technology assessments, including competitive benchmarking.
• Design, Validation & Compliance: Provide technical guidance to design and validation teams; oversee design reviews, prototypes, testing, validation, corrective actions, and compliance with applicable IEC, IS, and ABB standards.
• Cost & Value Engineering: Support value engineering, product cost reduction, project cost estimation, and end-to-end product costing initiatives.
• Cross-Functional & Product Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and global R&D teams, while maintaining product documentation and supporting product lifecycle management.

Qualifications for the role:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• Relevant Experience: 12–15 years of experience in product design, product development, or R&D engineering.
• Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams and managing engineering/R&D projects from concept through execution.
• Product Experience: Solid practical experience with metal enclosures, Low Voltage distribution boards, switchgear, or related electrical products.
• Engineering Tools: Proficiency in Creo, Windchill/PDM, and PLM systems for product design, data management, and lifecycle management.
• Product Development Capability: Solid understanding of design and development processes, with the ability to develop engineering solutions and technical decision-making.
• Core Skills: Solid analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and team leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
