The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially astute, proactive and collaborative In-house Lawyer to join our respected legal team based at our head office in Rhodes, NSW (with hybrid working flexibility). You will act as a trusted legal adviser across Frasers Property Australia's diverse residential, commercial, retail and hospitality portfolios.

In this highly visible and influential role, you will be deeply embedded across the entire property development lifecycle - from site acquisition, planning and financing, through to construction procurement, sales, leasing and dispute resolution. Working in close partnership with executive leaders, development teams and external panel law firms, you will provide commercially focused legal solutions that mitigate risk, protect the business and drive major strategic transactions forward.

How you will make an impact

• Strategic Transactions & Joint Ventures: Lead and negotiate high-value project acquisitions. Structure and establish joint ventures with capital partners and associated project financing agreements.
• Project Delivery: Provide commercially strategic legal advice to support all aspects of the delivery of our project, including construction contracts, consultancy agreements, sales and marketing, planning agreements with government authorities and leasing.
• Dispute Resolution & Risk Mitigation: Manage disputes pragmatically, including defect claims and other third party disputes. Partner with external legal counsel and internal teams to achieve favourable commercial outcomes while safeguarding the company’s brand and reputation.
• Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate matters, including FIRB, privacy, corporate debt facilities, anti-money laundering laws and other regulatory compliance matters. Maintain internal legal precedents, conduct internal training and oversee governance processes and delegations of authority.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who is collaborative, respectful, progressive and real. You will also bring:

• Experience: A minimum of 8 years’ PQE with extensive experience in property development and construction law gained within a top-tier/mid-tier law firm or a high-calibre in-house corporate legal team. Experience in managing construction-related disputes and litigation is highly desirable.
• Qualifications: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent and a current Australian practising certificate.
• Technical & Commercial Acumen: Exceptional contract drafting, statutory interpretation and commercial negotiation skills. A solid track record advising on complex real estate transactions, D&C contracts and joint venture structures.
• Stakeholder Management: The ability to influence, build trust and manage multiple senior internal stakeholders and competing deadlines with composure and commercial clarity.
• Mindset: A proactive, self-driven and energetic approach with high emotional intelligence, sound commercial judgement and an enthusiasm for continuous improvement and mentoring.
