About SHE-CAN

SHE-CAN (an acronym for Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) is a global non-profit organization located in San Francisco, California USA, that builds female global leadership in post-conflict countries – Rwanda, Cambodia, Liberia and Guatemala. We help passionate young leaders win scholarships to U.S. colleges and universities, provide leadership training, and pair them with U.S. mentor teams who help them thrive in college and launch change-agent careers at home. To date, we have helped 119 young women from Rwanda, Cambodia, Liberia, and Guatemala win $37M+ in full scholarships at top U.S. colleges.

About SHE-CAN

SHE-CAN (formerly Open A Door Foundation) is a 501(c)3 organization that provides young women from post-conflict countries access to higher education.

We are dedicated to finding young women who offer promise but would otherwise not have a chance at becoming an influential leader in their communities without a degree from a U.S. college or university. Once selected, each is given ACT and IELTS or TOEFL exam training, and matched with a team of 5-6 professional U.S. men and women who guide her in applying for college or university admission and scholarships. Through this unique mentoring model, a special bond emerges between the SHE-CAN scholar and her mentor team.

As we connect more and more passionate change-makers: mentors, graduates and donors, a powerful community emerges that is a resource and platform for increasing global female leadership.
