Position: Consultant – Impact Assessment / Environmental and Health and Safety (EHS) Generalist
Full-time position
Country: Romania. You will be part of our interdisciplinary and international team and will collaborate with ERM offices in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and even beyond.
ERM is looking for a motivated EHS Consultant to join its team in Romania and help our clients in some or all of the following areas, for example, but not limited to:
- EHS audit (due diligence, compliance, etc.),
- Environmental permitting,
- Sustainability advisory projects,
- ESG,
- Field baseline data collection, impact assessment and mitigation measures to feed the Environmental and Social) Impact Assessment (ESIA) in line with Romanian / EU as well as with requirements of international lenders (IFC-International Financing Corporation, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Equator Principles 4 etc.)
- Management of typical environmental impacts
- Contribute to Environmental and Social Due Diligence Assessments (ESDDs) as part of financing processes by international lenders
- Monitoring and evaluation of progress against commitments made in the EIA / ESIA
- Support preparation of sections in the proposals, under the guidance of line manager and proposal managers
- Etc., as required, under ERM guidance and on the job / dedicated trainings.
As an EHS Consultant within the team, you will be responsible for:
- Managing or coordinating small or medium size projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects – as ERM works closely with some of the world’s largest organizations, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our regional and global environmental and social performance teams
- Contractors management
- Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including proposals
- Understanding the interrelationships between ERM services and policies and how these are applied within the clients’ business model
- Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery
- Making use of effective working relationships with business unit and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources
- Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends
- Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/or global practice area
- Understanding how work of the project team or practice community contributes to ERM’s success
Ideal Candidate:
- University degree/ Master of Science in Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering, Planning and Development or a related discipline;
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in EHS and/ or environmental impact assessment of major investment projects
- Fluency in English and Romanian. Advance knowledge of other languages would be an advantage
- Familiar with Romanian EHS regulation, including with Romanian permitting procedures (EIA, SEA)
- Understanding of relevant international E&S Safeguards and Standards, i.e. IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Performance Requirements
- Commercial acumen, business development and project management skills
- Commitment to excellence, and to health and safety
- Excellent leadership and communication (both verbal and written) skills
- Team player
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with multiple tasks and projects in parallel, under strict budgets and deadlines
- Interpersonal skills and team orientation
- Willingness to travel and perform work in country and internationally (special focus in Hungary)
- Ability to drive (hold a valid driver’s license)
- Excellent computer skills are a must
