Job Description

As the IMG IT Website Architect for IMG Ford Pro, you will be responsible for defining and driving the strategic architectural vision for our external-facing website platforms. Reporting to the IMG IT Website Product Manager, you will collaborate closely with cross-platform product teams, engineering managers, and business stakeholders to design robust, scalable, and secure web solutions.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will take the initiative to lead technical projects from conception to deployment. You will make high-level design choices that prioritize manageability, usability, and performance, establishing the optimal architectural approach for website technologies, coding standards, and complex integrations. By leveraging modern architectural paradigms and Micro Frontend (MFE), you will ensure our digital footprint delivers an exceptional, highly performant user experience.

  • Architectural Strategy & Design: Create high-level software architecture designs that outline the overall structure, components, and interfaces of the IMG Ford Pro external web presence. Employ modern architectural paradigms and design patterns to create prototypes and optimized solutions.
  • Technical Project Leadership Act as a self-starter to independently drive architectural initiatives, providing technical guidance to development teams and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with management, IT Product Managers, UX/UI designers, and software engineers to evaluate the feasibility of requirements, determine priorities, and translate business capabilities into technical solution concepts.
  • Technology & Standards Governance: Ensure adherence to established coding standards, development tools, validation processes, and compliance requirements. Provide guidance regarding best practices for web performance (Core Web Vitals), accessibility (WCAG), technical SEO, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Integration & API Design: Define protocols, APIs, and interfaces that enable seamless communication between the website front-end and various backend systems, CMS platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager), CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and external third-party dependencies.
  • Platform & Infrastructure Alignment: Assess feature requirements to determine the most suitable technology stack, integration method, and deployment strategy leveraging major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Documentation & Artifacts: Develop and maintain Architecture Requirements Documents (ARDs), Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), system context flows, and integration/interface diagrams to support implementation and depict future-state architecture.
  • Technical Debt Management: Identify and manage technical debt across the website portfolio, developing proactive strategies for its reduction and prevention while simplifying complexity.
  • Innovation & Prototyping: Develop prototypes and Proofs of Concept (POCs) to demonstrate new ideas, evaluate emerging web technologies, and illustrate how to apply them within the IMG Ford Pro ecosystem.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 2-5 years specifically focused on architecture for large-scale, customer-facing web platforms.
  • Deep expertise in modern web technologies, including React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern build tools.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing Micro Frontend (MFE) architectures and MACH architectural principles.
  • Strong understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS), specifically Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and how to architect decoupled or headless front-end integrations.
  • Expertise in API design, RESTful services, and integration platforms (e.g., Mulesoft, APIGEE).
  • Proven experience designing solutions leveraging modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including static site hosting, CDNs, and serverless functions.
  • In-depth understanding of web performance optimization, web security standards, and WCAG accessibility compliance.
  • Excellent communication and influential leadership skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and drive alignment across geographically diverse teams.
  • Working knowledge of Agile product management methodologies and tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG) approaches.
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, SAFe).
  • Experience delivering external customer solutions with a focus on e-commerce or commercial automotive/fleet industries.
  • Experience architecting solutions that incorporate A/B testing frameworks, customer data platforms (CDPs), and advanced web analytics.
