Job Description

The iMentorship program is part of the iEngage program at the UW Information School, which works to connect iSchool students with industry partners and professionals. iMentorship pairs iSchool students with mentors from the professional community, giving our students a jumpstart as they prepare to enter the workforce and strengthen the connection between working professionals and the Information School. This position is a leadership opportunity for a motivated student looking to gain hands-on experience in program coordination, event management, and professional communications. The student assistant will support the iMentorship program and report directly to the iEngage Program Manager.

This student assistant will work on an as-needed basis, averaging 10 hours per week. Much of the work can be done remotely, with only infrequent in-person attendance required The iMentorship program is busiest at the beginning and end of the academic year; during slower periods, the student assistant will have the opportunity to support broader iEngage programming and events.

Responsibilities include:

Program Operations

  • Assist with the iMentorship matching process, including student outreach and coordination
  • Support mentor recruitment and mentor recommendation communications
  • Monitor the iEngage mailbox and respond to mentorship-related emails
  • Lead iMentorship orientation for incoming mentors and mentees
  • Track student deliverables and send reminders
  • Send certificates and appreciation communications to mentors

Event Planning and Coordination

  • Support planning and logistics for iMentorship events
  • Coordinate event communications, registration, and follow-ups
  • Assist with day-of event execution and monitoring
  • Support planning and hosting of the Mentor Appreciation event
  • Assist with iEngage programming and events during slower periods of the iMentorship cycle

Administrative and Communications Support

  • Draft and send mentee and mentor communications
  • Assist with marketing materials and program announcements
  • Support data tracking and reporting (matching rates, student engagement metrics)
  • Assist with ensuring systems are ready to support the mentorship program

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled UW undergraduate student
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a small team, with a proactive approach and sound judgment when making decisions independently
  • Comfortable supporting and leading event planning and execution, including orientations and other events
  • Microsoft Office proficient

Compensation:$21.33 – 22.83 per hour
