Job Location: Medina Regional Hospital 3100 Ave E - Hondo, TX 78861 Position Type: Full Time Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: DaysKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. - Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. - Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. - Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. - Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. - Performs specialized and routine diagnostics radiology procedures, including nuclear medicine and sonography. - Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations. - Measures, mixes, and administers barium and contrast media. - Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. - Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician. - Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and arranges for repairs as needed. - Operates mobile radiological equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. - Completes forms and maintenance records, logs, and reports of work performed. - Able to process images in a CR/PACS environment. - Maintains positive and effective relationships with other departments and the Medical Staff. - Consults with physicians to resolve problems and to obtain and provide patient care input. - Maintains open communication and problem-solving atmosphere with other departments to achieve quality patient care. - Any other job duty as allowed by licensure. - Attends in-service training at the request of their Director, including hospital orientation and Annual Skills Fair. - Will be preceptor to new hires as requested. - Complete other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: - Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - BLS required within 30 days of hire. MRT, ARRT (R), or LMRT or NCТ - Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served as applicable.
