Provides support to the Radiologic Technologist to ensure promptness and efficiency of the patient care process. Ensure patient comfort and safety during the radiological experience to include the image management process.

The Memorial Horizons Program provides students enrolled in Radiography, Surgical Technology, and Sonography degree programs with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive financial support, and secure a pathway to employment at Memorial Health after graduation.

Eligibility Criteria

The Horizons Program is open to external candidates and current Memorial Health colleagues in the first year of their major program of study and will graduate in May 2027. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited allied health program that aligns with Memorial’s workforce needs, maintain the minimum required GPA and have completed all prerequisite coursework. Applicants must complete an employment application and an interview as part of the competitive selection process. Individuals selected for the Horizons Program must maintain satisfactory academic progress, have no active corrective actions on file, and exhibit behaviors that align with Memorial’s values to remain eligible.

Benefits of Working While In School

Individuals who are selected for the Horizons Program will work at Memorial Health as a per diem colleague while attending school. This allows participants to gain valuable hands-on experience, work alongside Memorial clinicians, and prepare them for their careers at Memorial after graduation.

Financial Opportunities

Individuals selected for the Horizons Program will receive a bi-weekly stipend of $1,000.00 during the second year of their program (August 2026-May 2027). Stipends are subject to applicable taxes and deductions. As a Memorial colleague who is working per diem while attending school, you may also be eligible for up to $5250 per calendar year in Tuition Assistance. In addition, individuals selected for the Horizons Program will be eligible for sign-on incentives at the time of graduation.

Pathway to Employment After Graduation

Graduates of the Horizons Program will be placed in full-time roles designated by Memorial Health upon meeting all graduation and licensing requirements. Participants must commit to working at Memorial Health for three years after graduation.

Qualifications

Education:

High School education required.

Enrolled in 2nd year of Rad Tech Program

Experience:

Clinical experience and exposure to medical terminology strongly preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to perform communication and customer relation skills.

Ability to multi-task while working with others.

Ability to perform interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, medical staff, patients, customers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling according to department protocol and communicate scheduling information to appropriate areas.
  • Schedule exams accurately with pertinent information noted.
  • Notify appropriate technologist regarding “overbook” cases or special requests.
  • Check for conflicts in scheduling.
  • Accurately prepare schedule for next day.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to customer requests and ensure minimal customer waiting time.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly/courteously, transfer calls efficiently, and communicate messages accurately.
  • Set up rooms for exams and clean exam rooms after each patient.
  • Properly use the PACS imaging system to apply patient history and set exams to be read.
  • Stock supplies in rooms.
  • Accurately and effectively utilize the hospital-wide information systems to streamline work and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Assist technologist with the transport and transfer of patients on and off of x-ray table.
