7643 SRCC Rad Onc-VisaliaThe Imaging Services Technologist Assistant oversees all support duties for imaging services. This involves all pre, current, and post activity that is involved in imaging services operations. Duties encompass; performing EKG’s and assisting Technologists with patients, as well as clerical duties necessary to maintain a positive workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification
Required: BLS
Preferred: EKG certification


Education
Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent


Experience
Preferred: Two to four years experience



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Creates order in Radiology Information System (RIS) using Correct Dr.s order assuring accuracy.

Checks with Technologist and Physician’s office if necessary to confirm proper order, when unsure.

Reviews orders for correct ICD-10 Codes and Physician Signatures.

Scans physician orders into system.

Faxes reports to physician offices as requested.

Reviews medical release for CD’s and/or Reports with patient prior to releasing records.

Creates CD’s as requested by patients, physicians or Urgent Care.

Orders supplies as needed for clerical area or technologist area.

May transport patients to and from imaging area as needed.

May perform EKG’s to facilitate optimum patient flow.

Checks identification of patient with at least two identifiers according to Joint Commission Safety standards, prior to performing EKG’s.

Explains EKG test procedure to patient. Reviews any questions with Technologist, RN or Physician if necessary.

Prepare patient for EKG, hooking up leads appropriately.

May hook up halter monitors and scan results.

May solve issues with use of monitors and answer patients questions. Reviews any unknowns to technologist or nursing personnel.

Alerts supervisor and or Urgent Care as needed when there is a possible concern with results. May be involved with contacting medical facility or departments or help arrange transport to hospital if requested by physician or as needed.

Maintains EKG room in ready condition assuring all supplies are ordered and available.

Assures all expired supplies are removed and disposed of properly.

Table is wiped down before and after each patient as part of infection control standards.

Notifies Physicians of cardiac Arrhythmias or abnormal EKG’s.

Faxes Preliminary copy of EKG data prior to final result by cardiologist.

Posts daily EKG charges and checks requisition for validity and duplication of medical record numbers to assure charges are accurate.

Reviews EKG’s to confirm medical record and account numbers are correct. Makes corrections with Cardiology as needed.

Additional

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$20.00 -$30.00
