The Imaging Services Supervisor is a leader who has the skills to facilitate and deliver high quality evidence-based collaborative care to patients receiving a range of modalities in radiology diagnostics and interventions. In collaboration with the Imaging Services Director, the Supervisor possesses clinical expertise with 24-hour clinical and administrative accountability for the functions of the Radiology Department, including MRI, CT, x-ray, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Mammography, Cardiovascular Services, and Bone Density. Administrative responsibilities include human resources, staffing performance improvement, accountability for self, peers and staff and technology and strategy. The supervisor possesses broad-based clinical and leadership skills including communication, mentoring, advocacy, systems thinking, critical thinking, and establishment of a healthy work environment. He/she functions as a leader and role model in accordance with American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
a. Prior Imaging services work experience is required.
b. Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
c. Must have successfully completed formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) approved program and be registered (or eligible for registry) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology.
d. Must possess valid State of Iowa credential (i.e. Iowa Permit to Practice)
e. Must possess one of the following certifications, based on skill set:
f. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
g. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
h. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
a. Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift.
b. Standing– Approximately 50% of shift.
c. Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.
d. Lifting – Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and/or pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.
e. Twisting – Infrequent.
f. Bending – Moderate.
g. Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.
