What you’ll be doing

The IM System Transformation Analyst is a specialized, project-oriented role. This position is dedicated to the technical delivery of the Documents Management stream within the Core Regulatory Transformation (CRT) program - a critical component of BCCNM’s multi-year modernization initiative.

The primary objective is to facilitate the technical implementation, migration, and system testing of the College’s new CRM and Information Management System. This role is distinct from operational records maintenance; it focuses on the design and configuration of future-state digital architecture. The Analyst will analyze data and document lifecycles to inform system configurations and security protocols, ensuring that the new digital framework aligns with both legislative requirements and the technical specifications of the CRT program.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Compliance Analysis

  • Analyzes legacy information systems specifically to extract requirements for documents migration, ensuring future-state solutions maintain or exceed current compliance with legislative and regulatory standards.
  • Applies professional standards for metadata and classification to ensure migrated documents are structured logically within the new environment.

System Transformation & Configuration

  • Partners with project members to identify, document, and validate technical requirements for documents management using Microsoft technologies (e.g., content types, metadata, search, and automated workflows).
  • Advises on the transition of the Records Retention Schedule into the new system environment, collaborating with stakeholders to automate retention categories.
  • Assists with the configuration and rigorous testing of information architecture and document migration pathways based on design decisions.
  • Identifies and communicates technical or process risks relating to the new Information Management System integration; contributes to active problem-solving and risk mitigation.

Quality Assurance & Project Support

  • Participate in the Quality Assurance (QA) and end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases to ensure system functionality meets business needs.
  • Participates in Hypercare and post-go-live support to ensure a seamless transition from legacy systems to the new systems.
  • Builds effective working relationships with business teams to identify technical solutions aligned with the strategic goals of the Business Transformation initiative.
  • Collaborates with Learning and Development Specialists to create technical training materials that empower staff to utilize the new system effectively.

Organizational Alignment

  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning related to Indigenous cultural safety and humility and supporting organizational actions towards addressing Indigenous-specific racism in BC’s health care system.
  • Fosters and maintains an organizational culture that promotes equity, diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, teamwork, and service excellence.

Your education & skills :

  • University degree in Information Management, Library and Information Science, or a related field supplemented by specialized coursework in digital systems or records management. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience specifically in IT transformation projects or system implementations.
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and Purview.
  • Deep understanding of information governance principles (GARP, ISO 15489) as they apply to digital system architecture and migration.

About BC College of Nurses and Midwives

BCCNM is the provincial regulator for all nurses and midwives in British Columbia. We regulate the four nursing designations--licensed practical nurses (LPN), nurse practitioners (NP), registered nurses (RN) and registered psychiatric nurses (RPN)--as well as registered midwives (RM).

Our purpose is to ensure the public receives safe, competent, and ethical nursing and midwifery care.

BCCNM was established Sep. 1, 2020, through the amalgamation of the BC College of Nursing Professionals and the College of Midwives of BC. This amalgamation is in line with the Ministry of Health's ongoing efforts to streamline and modernize health profession regulation in B.C.

The new college is the first nurse and midwife regulator in Canada, and the largest regulator in Western Canada, overseeing 68,500 registrants.
