Job Description

Shift: 2nd (3pm-11pm)

Processing lead for the injection-molding department. Continuously improve processes through problem solving and standardization. Ensure parts produced meet quality standards and document process controls. Technical lead for molding and automation processes, tooling, robotics programing, material conveying equipment, blending equipment, dispensing automation, and preventative maintenance. Coordinator responsibilities include assisting with daily work direction, training support, work audits, and communication of production or resource needs, as assigned.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead for the shift, overseeing and optimizing injection molding, robotic systems, seal application, and automated value-add processes.

  • Perform and support mold changes, including machine processing, robot programming, and end-of-arm tooling adjustments.

  • Assemble/disassemble molds and tooling, including inserts, pins, plates, and threaded components.

  • Verify part quality during startup and production through process controls, first-piece validation, and dimensional/go-no-go checks.

  • Audit and optimize molding and robotic processes to improve cycle time, reliability, and quality.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, process, and quality issues; perform repairs as needed.

  • Document and monitor process sheets, OEE data, and production standards; escalate out-of-limit conditions.

  • Support engineering trials, sampling, auxiliary systems, material handling, maintenance, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.

Coordination Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct daily activities within the assigned work area to meet safety, quality, and production objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/checklist standards.

  • Support team members with equipment, process, and quality issues while modeling strong teamwork.

  • Audit work practices to SOPs/checklists and provide coaching to reinforce standards.

  • Support training, cross-training, mentoring, and backup coverage for skill development.

  • Track department metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate needs to leadership.

  • Identify and escalate staffing, resource, or workload imbalances.

  • Manage quality area responsibilities and lead second-lean continuous improvement initiatives.

What Sets You Up for Success

  • Technical: Minimal 5 yrs experience in injection molding technology or related field. Demonstrated Injection molding process control experience and robot programming. Quick mold change experience / training.

  • Experience in hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical maintenance repair methods and problems solving. Computer skills; such as Word, Excel, and databases. Fanuc, Motoman, Sepro Robots, and Cincinnati molding machine experience a plus.

  • Education: 2 year associate degree in plastics engineering technology or related field. 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, repeatedly bend and reach, and use hands to manipulate tools and parts. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.

  • Work Environment: The employee is exposed to dirty environments on a daily basis. Hearing protection steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats are required.

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and motivate others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable using computers such as Email, Microsoft Excel, and MRP systems
