Job Description

Are you a driven, analytically minded professional with a passion for financial markets and innovative risk solutions? Join Swiss Re Capital Markets (SRCM) in London and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) and alternative capital markets. This is your opportunity to work at the forefront of a dynamic, global industry — where your ideas and expertise will make a real impact.

About the Role

As an ILS & Alternative Capital Structurer, you will be at the heart of SRCM's deal-making engine — contributing to the origination, structuring, and execution of cutting-edge ILS transactions. From catastrophe bonds to synthetic solutions, you will work across a diverse range of products and clients, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in investment banking, risk modelling, and legal advisory. If you thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and are excited by the intersection of finance, risk, and innovation, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the origination, pricing, structuring and execution of ILS and alternative capital transactions for Swiss Re and SRCM clients across property & casualty and life & health sectors, working as part of a collaborative team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with investment bankers, risk modellers, rating agencies and legal firms to deliver seamless transaction execution
  • Develop compelling client materials for new transaction opportunities, including presentations for investor discussions, rating agencies, regulators and other key stakeholders
  • Analyse and research client exposures, providing deep insights that inform structuring decisions and risk assessments
  • Perform sophisticated financial analyses using Monte Carlo simulation techniques and cash flow models to support transaction pricing and structuring
  • Contribute to team strategy by supporting the development of new structural solutions and innovative products that expand SRCM's market offering
  • Engage directly with clients and investors through travel to meetings, actively participating in discussions and building strong professional relationships
  • Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing processes and bringing fresh perspectives to a fast-moving, international environment

About the Team

Swiss Re has been a leader in Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) since the market's inception, and Swiss Re Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) is the firm's unified centre of expertise in the alternative capital space. Swiss Re Capital Markets (SRCM) is a leading broker-dealer specialising in the structuring, placement and secondary trading of ILS in the capital markets. Our product suite spans catastrophe bonds, sidecars, synthetic solutions and a broad range of securitisation and derivative products. We serve a diverse global client base — including re/insurers, governments and corporations — providing tailored risk hedging and financing solutions across both property & casualty and life & health sectors. The risks we help transfer are as varied as natural disasters, pandemic diseases, cyber threats and terror events, making every transaction a unique and intellectually stimulating challenge.

About You

We are looking for a curious, collaborative and commercially minded professional who brings both analytical rigour and an entrepreneurial spirit to everything they do. You communicate with confidence, build relationships with ease, and are energised by the complexity and pace of global financial markets. You are committed to continuous learning, take pride in the quality of your work, and are ready to contribute meaningfully from day one.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with significant emphasis in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or a similarly analytical discipline, with a strong academic record
  • Minimum 2–5 years of investment banking experience, with a proven track record of contributing to complex financial transactions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with hands-on experience in Monte Carlo simulation techniques and cash flow modelling, enabling you to build robust financial models and produce high-quality presentation materials
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with meticulous attention to detail in client-facing materials
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach combined with the ability to engage professionally with clients and investors at all levels
  • A genuine entrepreneurial mindset — high energy, proactive, and passionate about developing new solutions and products
  • Dedication to continuous learning and a willingness to challenge the status quo

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience in reinsurance and/or the ILS market, including familiarity with catastrophe bonds, sidecars or other alternative capital instruments #LI-Hybrid

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.

For London the annual base salary range for this position is between GBP 72 000 and GBP 108 000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits. Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
