Job Description

The Imaging Navigator is a clinical coordination and patient advocacy role responsible for overseeing the timely follow-up, communication, and care coordination of imaging findings across multiple service lines, including breast imaging, lung screening, interventional radiology (IR) pathology results, and incidental imaging findings. This role serves as a critical link between radiology, referring providers, procedural teams, pathology, and patients to ensure findings are appropriately communicated, tracked, and resolved in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards. The Imaging Navigator proactively manages imaging results that require additional evaluation or intervention, facilitates scheduling and follow-up care, and ensures closed-loop communication to reduce delays in diagnosis, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the overall patient experience. The role supports compliance with accreditation, quality, and reporting requirements while promoting continuity of care across the Deaconess health system.

What you will do:

  • Performs patient navigation. Provides education and educational resources. Provides support and connects patients and families to support services. Promotes communication between the patient and health care providers, and coordinates services in collaboration with any necessary clinical groups or multi-disciplinary team
  • Performs imaging procedures
  • Performs quality control tests
  • Performs quality assessment
  • Assists in biopsy procedures
  • Performs IV injections
  • Performs clerical functions and computer data entry
  • Assists in orientation activities
  • Participates in meetings and in-service programs
  • Participates in quality improvement activities related to patient care/services
  • Assists with moving patients and preparing patients for exams
  • Complies with facility/hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains supplies/inventory


Education Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree from an approved School of Radiologic Technology Required


Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years' relevant experience working as a Radiographer Required
  • Employees may learn duties in 3 months (this includes computer use) Required


Skills and Abilities:

  • Communicate with patients, families, visitors, physicians, nursing staff, other hospital staff members, and various other customers of all ages in emergent and non-emergent situations
  • Articulate, read and write diagnoses and symptoms on pertinent requisitions, physician orders, and in scheduling books.
  • Use accepted hospital communication processes such as read-back and verify, asking questions, and the language hotline to assure safe communications with customers
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Considerable initiative and judgment is required in performing radiographic procedures in a safe manner and maintaining appropriate workflow. Requires clear speech, attentiveness, and sound judgment
  • Required to enter, review, and retrieve data from various information systems including but not limited to HIS, RIS and PACS, D-Web, Magview and Web In-services
  • Must know anatomical structure
  • Requires knowledge of operating capabilities of radiographic equipment
  • Must know theory and limitations of radiographic equipment.
  • Must know radiation hazards and necessary precautions to protect self and patient. Must know operation of film processors and quality control tools. Must be able to perform satisfactorily all tasks listed on facility protocol for Imaging
  • Considerable initiative and judgement required in performing procedures and providing patient navigation


Licenses and Certifications:

  • ARRT Certification Required
  • IEMA Certification within 6 months of hire Required
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required


Physical Demands:

  • Heavy physical requirements Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Compensation:

Hourly range $27.50 - $41.25

Bonus:

Potential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.

Incentives:

Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
