Purpose

This position is open to UT Austin graduate students or advanced undergraduate students studying art history or museum studies. It is a fixed-term position starting on 8/24/26 and ending on 4/27/27. You will complete 8 hours of work per week for 23 weeks during this time period. You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for both the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters to be considered for this role.

The IFPDA intern will assist in the essential day-to-day operations of the Wilkinson Center for Prints and Drawings. The intern will report to the Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings. The intern will help pull and put away objects for class visits and aid in the care of the Blanton’s collection of over 18,000 works on paper. The intern may monitor the study room. The intern may research collection objects and suggest works for class visits.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and put away works on paper under the supervision of the Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings.

  • Assist with in the care and organization of the collections. Assist with study room monitoring.

  • Assist with research of collection objects and enhancement of object filesMay suggest objects for class visits.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation or GED.

  • Experience in a museum or gallery setting.

  • Strong interest in prints and printmaking.

  • UT Austin graduate student or advanced undergraduate student studying art history or museum studies. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for both the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior knowledge of print history and techniques, and experience handling works on paper.

Salary

  • $19.00 per hour

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment

Work Shift

  • Two 4-hour shifts weekly during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm ); 23 weeks of work between 8/24/26 - 4/27/27.

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required by programs and events.
