px Americas is a leading provider of commissioning, start-up and operations-readiness services for LNG assets and energy sectors across North America and beyond. As we expand our footprint into the Bahamas we are recruiting for a I&E Technician.

The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems that support safe and efficient plant operations. This includes process control instruments, fire & gas detection systems, electrical distribution equipment, and associated control systems. The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Interpret and update P&IDs, electrical drawings, and loop diagrams.
  • Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) records of work performed.
  • Support commissioning and startup of new equipment and systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, IEC/ISA, or local equivalents).
  • Participate in turnaround/shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues

Instrumentation Duties

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain process instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level, analytical sensors).
  • Maintain and test Fire & Gas detection systems (gas detectors, flame detectors, smoke detectors).
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation signal loops (4–20mA, HART, Foundation Fieldbus).
  • Support Distributed Control System (DCS), PLC, and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) integration.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and functional testing of instrumentation systems.

Electrical Duties

  • Maintain and repair low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, motors, drives (VFDs), and power distribution panels.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults, wiring, and terminations.
  • Perform routine testing on breakers, switchgear, and protective devices.
  • Support emergency shutdown (ESD) and backup power systems.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Trade certification, associate’s degree, or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electrical, or related field
  • 3-7 years of industrial experience in oil & gas (ideally LNG), petrochemical, power or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation, electrical systems, PLC/DCS controls, and F&G systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, loop sheets, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with safety & compliance procedures in hazardous areas (OSHA, NFPA, IEC, NEC, & IECEx)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy (CMMS, HART communicator, diagnostic tools).
