IDD Vocational Center Instructor

Meeting Basic Work Expectations-Complies with bas Assists with Employee Health and Safety- Understands, teaches and utilizes proper body mechanics while assisting with behavioral intervention techniques, dependent/independent transfers and positioning of people supported regardless of individual weight distribution. Seeks understanding of and follows company personnel policy, regulations, safety, and blood borne pathogen programs. Assists with fire drills & posting of MSDS. Reports accidents, hazards, and needed repairs. Practices universal medical precautions by understanding and utilizing personal protective and safety equipment. Pays particular attention to the environment as a means to promote a safe, clean, neat and healthy workplace for both people supported and employees. Assists Staff and Managers with Various Tasks- Works closely with Vocational Program Manager, Habilitation Specialists, Qualified Professional and other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and provide feedback, standardize procedures, expedite the Person Centered Plan implementation and workflow and to improve efficiency of direct support staff. Assists with vocational assessments & attends vocational program task force and planning meetings. Schedules and posts staff assignments to various classrooms. Assists Quality Management Performance- Identifies and establishes performance measurement workstations with Department of Labor Standards. Implements and monitors formal people supported training programs within the workshop/classrooms. Ensures people supported are exposed to the people supported handbook. Reports to management all suspected or observed incidents of people supported abuse, neglect or exploitation. Assists with Business Management- Performs actual time and cost of product studies to determine rate of pay for piece or hourly work. Assists with community wage surveys. Obtains and inventories raw materials, needed supplies and materials for performing contract work for finished products. Assists in the procurement of community job contracts by visiting job sites, conducting job surveys, developing criteria for people supported involvement and servicing as liaison between the vocational center and community/business representatives. Documents progress of work and maintains related records to verify production quantity and quality. Ensures people supported time sheets are completed accurately and on time and that appropriate breaks and lunch periods are observed. Ensures people supported get paycheck and distributes them. Compiles yearly wage summaries Performs Vocational Instructor Responsibilities- Promotes harmony among coworkers, emphasizes professionalism resolves minor disturbances and serves as role model for staff, co-workers, and people supported work behaviors. Promotes the vocational services curriculum philosophy & mission. Ensures confidentiality regarding sensitive issues and material. ic job requirements and tasks; arrives at work on time as scheduled; proactively informs others when he/she encounters problems that may limit his/her ability to meet expectations.
