Job Description

ICU RN

The ICU RN is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves closely monitoring patients conditions, administering medications, providing life-saving interventions, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of care.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients for signs of distress, changes in vital signs, and other critical health indicators using specialized equipment.
Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological conditions to determine the appropriate care plan.
Care Planning and Coordination: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Medication Administration: Administer medications, including IVs, pain management, and other treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
Critical Interventions: Perform life-saving procedures, including but not limited to CPR, airway management, and assisting with intubation, if necessary.
Patient Advocacy: Act as an advocate for the patient, ensuring their rights are respected, and they receive compassionate, ethical care.
Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and deliver comprehensive care.
Education and Family Support: Provide education and emotional support to patients families, explaining treatment plans and offering comfort during stressful situations.
Documentation: Accurately document patient information, nursing interventions, and responses to treatment in electronic health records (EHR).
Compliance: Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and industry regulations to maintain patient safety and high standards of care.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
Licensure: Current RN license in any of the 50 state of United States.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
Experience: Prior experience in critical care, emergency room, or intensive care preferred.

Skills:
Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in using ICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps).
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple critical tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful and high-pressure situations.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move patients, sometimes with the assistance of equipment.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Must be able to tolerate a fast-paced and sometimes emotionally challenging environment.
