Applications are invited for the fixed term full time position of Senior Intensive Care Registrar at Epworth Richmond commencing February 2027.

The Epworth Richmond Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 26-bed unit that admits more than 2000 patients annually. The unit is a general adult medical/surgical ICU including cardiac surgery, and also runs the medical emergency team and code blue services.

Epworth Richmond ICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) for general (core) training and cardiothoracic intensive care We are a member of the ANZICS Clinical Trials Group with a full-time research coordinator and an active research program.

The positions would ideally suit CICM trainees. However, applications are welcomed from Career Medical Officers, or trainees of other Colleges (ACEM, ANZCA, RACP and RACS).

The Unit prioritizes education and research through the delivery of mandatory protected weekly registrar teaching intended to develop both technical and non-technical skills. Additional consultant led, individualised, training and support will be provided for trainees preparing for CICM primary and fellowship examinations. Research mentorship and methodological support is also provided for trainees wishing to complete a research project, including and in-unit Data Scientist and access to a biostatistician.

Training includes an in-house, CICM and ASUM accredited, echocardiography programme with the facility for interested trainees to complete higher echocardiography qualifications, including the Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU).

To be successful in this role…

Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  • General registration with AHPRA or AMC accredited and limited registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum 3-years completed fulltime employment post-graduation
  • Previous critical care experience
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
