NoResponsible for the skillful performance of technical care to patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures and performs clerical duties while functioning as a communication source in the Intensive Critical Care Unit.

Job Duties:

  • Promptly answers telephone calls and forwards to the appropriate individual.
  • Prepares requisitions and notifies appropriate departments of necessary procedures.
  • Notifies Registration Department of patients to be transferred from Intensive Critical Care Unit.
  • Orders supplies and equipment by maintaining department par levels.
  • Stocks paper supplies at the nurses' and physicians' desks.
  • Cleans IV pumps and equipment as needed.
  • Prepares and applies identification bracelets for life support, call codes.
  • Performs patient procedures such as vital signs, intake and output, bedside blood sugar readings.
  • Assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, positioning, and toileting.
  • Assists with initiation of cardiac monitoring as directed by registered nurse, maintain paper in monitor recorder, record rhythm strips per departmental policy, identifies changes in EKG rhythms and notifies registered nurse of same, responds appropriately to monitor alarms, leads off messages.
  • Assists with application of oxygen as directed by registered nurse.
  • Assists with transportation of specimens as directed.
