Job Description

Clean Harbors is searching for an experienced, reliable, and safety-oriented Instrument & Electrical Supervisor for our Aragonite, Utah incineration facility. This supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of the plant control systems and interactions with the I&E teams for instrumentation repairs and calibrations, control system programming, instructing, and directing the work of contractors, parts ordering, work order system and managing critical spare parts.

  • Proactively manage controls production environment and take preventative actions to avoid business impacting incidents.
  • Implement logic changes to minimize plant trips and improve plant reliability. Use the Clean Harbor management of change process to ensure logic changes are controlled and risk assessed to ensure plant integrity is not compromised.
  • Coaching operations and other technical personnel on the concepts and use of control strategies.
  • Process control algorithm development, prototyping and implementation.
  • Organize, design, and carry out the development, implementation and maintenance of Basic Process Control and Process Optimization.
  • Establish and manage goals, reporting needs, key performance indicators and dashboards for control system and health.
  • Lead the prompt resolution of control system performance issues through the application of strong critical thinking skills.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the control system infrastructure including project activity to renew and evolve the DCS platforms.
  • Oversee reliability and maintenance of DCS/PLC hardware and software.
  • Maintain backups of critical systems.
  • Maintain and Improve site’s process control network.
  • May require scheduled on-call work during off-hours.
  • Follows safe and compliant working procedures.
  • Maintains a Network Diagrams, PID’s, Control System Drawings,
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.
  • Use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Setting up hardware to communicate with remote PLC’s and DCS.

  • Bachelor’s degree in -Electrical/Instrumentation.
  • 2-5 years’ experience leading, supervising, or managing a team.
  • Proficient in process and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Proficient in plant control system maintenance and design.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on an on-call basis.
