With almost 25 years as one of Australia’s leading premium sneaker destinations, Hype DC continues to deliver a curated world class assortment of sneakers to our customers. Here at Hype DC, we are obsessed and committed to our people, our team and our customers are at the heart of what we do. As a key sneaker destination, we strive to deliver memorable experiences, a high-performance culture and operational excellence.

The Role

Are you a passionate retail leader who thrives on driving results, building incredible teams and creating unforgettable customer experiences?

Hype DC is looking for an ambitious and driven Assistant Store Manager to join our leadership team at Mid City in Sydney CBD. We’re searching for a natural leader who brings energy, commercial acumen and a genuine passion for sneakers, culture and people.

As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing the Hype DC brand vision to life, building a high-performance team culture and driving the success of a high-volume retail business. Working closely with your Store Manager and Area Manager, you’ll lead from the front, identify opportunities for growth and create an environment where both your team and your customers can thrive.

At Hype DC, we believe great results start with great people. If you’re ready to challenge the status quo, elevate performance and take the next step in your leadership journey, this is your opportunity to make an impact.

The Role & Responsibilities

As a key business leader, you’ll take ownership of driving performance, developing talent and delivering operational excellence across your store. You will:

  • Build an exceptional team: Create a high-performance culture and a positive, energetic store environment where people feel empowered to succeed.
  • Drive commercial results: Lead the performance of a multimillion-dollar retail business, delivering sales targets, KPIs and financial objectives.
  • Bring the brand to life: Champion the Hype DC vision and strategy, ensuring every aspect of the store reflects our brand standards and culture.
  • Create memorable experiences: Put the customer at the centre of every decision, delivering exceptional service and meaningful connections with every interaction.
  • Lead and develop talent: Coach, mentor and inspire your team, providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities to unlock their potential.
  • Build your team: Support recruitment, selection and onboarding to attract and develop passionate brand ambassadors.
  • Deliver operational excellence: Oversee stock management, loss prevention, wage control and store operations to maximise business performance.
  • Create a seamless omnichannel experience: Ensure online orders are processed efficiently and customers receive a consistent experience across every channel.
  • Execute visual merchandising: Maintain best-in-class store presentation and visual merchandising standards that showcase our product and brand.
  • Prioritise safety and wellbeing: Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for both customers and team members.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a confident, commercially minded leader who knows how to bring people together and turn ambition into results. To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Previous retail leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ideally as a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager or equivalent.
  • A proven track record of driving sales, achieving KPIs and delivering strong commercial results.
  • A genuine passion for delivering best-in-class customer experiences and building lasting customer relationships.
  • The ability to coach, motivate and inspire a large team to perform at their best.
  • A people-first leadership style, with a focus on developing talent, building engagement and creating a strong team culture.
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn insights into action.
  • Experience managing rosters, wage budgets and operational performance.
  • A hands-on approach to stock management, visual merchandising and loss prevention.
  • A proactive ‘Make It Happen’ attitude, with the drive to challenge yourself, your team and the business to achieve more.
  • A passion for sneakers, streetwear and the culture that surrounds them.

Why Hype DC?
