Hydropower Planning Expert (m/f/d)

What you can achieve with us:

  • You take the lead in planning hydropower projects, overseeing everything from site selection and layout optimization to the preliminary design of hydraulic structures
  • You develop conceptual feasibility studies for dams, waterways, and powerhouses
  • You perform hydrological analyses, energy yield assessments, reservoir operation studies, and generation forecasts
  • You carry out risk assessments and scenario analyses for project alternatives, considering factors such as climate resilience and sedimentation impacts
  • Preparing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, you monitor progress and make sure contractual obligations are met
  • By coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs from civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental teams, you produce consistent and high-quality project documentation such as technical reports, tender documents, and presentations
  • You manage interfaces with clients, partners, and stakeholders, organize workshops, present findings, and respond to technical questions
  • Contributing to business development, you prepare proposals and support strategic initiatives in hydropower planning

What convinces us:

  • You hold a degree in Civil Engineering (master’s or higher) or a related field – specialization in hydraulic engineering, hydropower planning, or project management is an advantage
  • With at least 5 years of professional experience (ideally 10) you have successfully led hydropower and pumped storage planning projects and feasibility studies – experience with international projects is a plus
  • Skilled in hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, structural design, and the integration of electrical and mechanical systems, you are familiar with international standards and financing requirements for hydropower projects
  • You have experience in project management, contract negotiations, and proposal preparation; knowledge of construction supervision is an added advantage
  • Communicating clearly and confidently, you can justify your technical decisions both internally and externally
  • You are flexible, willing to travel internationally, and thrive in multicultural teams
  • Fluent in English, you benefit from German or other language skills
