About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hydrology Engineer to support the planning, design, and implementation of major road and highway infrastructure projects in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting hydrological assessments, flood studies, drainage design, and watershed analyses to ensure safe, resilient, and sustainable transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for road, highway, bridge, and drainage infrastructure projects.
  • Develop hydrologic models to estimate runoff, peak flows, and design flood levels
  • Design road drainage systems, cross-drainage structures, stormwater management facilities, and erosion control measures.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with project requirements
  • Support environmental impact assessments related to hydrology and water resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in hydrological analysis and modeling, flood risk analysis, and hydraulic design for infrastructure projects, preferably financed by MDBs.
  • Male or female
  • Good communication in English Language

Preferred Skills

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Flood frequency and floodplain analysis.
  • Highway drainage and stormwater design.
  • Bridge and culvert hydraulic assessment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software
