Job Description

Want to take the next step in your development as a hydrogeologist, with a focus on task ownership, self-empowerment and innovative thinking?

Want to collaborate, think outside of the box and work within a team of hydrogeologists, groundwater modellers, geochemists and environmental scientists across Australia and Canada to create positive long-term impact?

Would you enjoy working on diverse projects that take you from the field to data analysis and interpretation, supporting technical assessments that deliver real impact for communities?

This could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Come and join our team of industry-leading groundwater technical specialists; recognised for their experience, knowledge and innovation. With national and global coverage, our team offer a unique blend of consulting, government and industry expertise delivering tailored solutions for a range of sectors including renewable energy, major road, rail and transmission infrastructure, mining, extraction, and closure and rehabilitation. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with our clients and internal teams to deliver practical advice and solutions to best navigate groundwater challenges.

We were incredibly proud to be recognised once again this year as the Best Provider of ESG Services: Built & Natural Environment Consulting in the 2026 Client Choice Awards. Unlike many industry awards, the Client Choice Awards are judged solely on client feedback - that’s what makes this recognition so meaningful.

Here’s what you can expect in your new role with EMM:

  • Your days will vary; from hiking in the mountains to retrieve groundwater level loggers, or completing groundwater exploration in the desert, collating and analysing field data or contributing to reports and proposals
  • You’ll grow your field expertise; supervising drill rigs, groundwater monitoring, pumping testing and undertaking groundwater dependant ecosystems surveys
  • You’ll grow your hydrogeological conceptualisation skills; collating and interpreting field data, preparing water quality time series, interpreting aquifer tests and supporting groundwater impact assessments and supply investigations
  • With projects and offices across Australia; you’ll have the opportunity to work interstate, supported by a range of allowances and flexible time arrangements to balance all aspects of your life.

Here’s what you’ll bring to have impact:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in geoscience/geology/hydrogeology/environment or related disciplines
  • Two plus years of technical experience in groundwater resources, hydrogeological assessments, dewatering, groundwater monitoring and/or environmental assessments – applying the fundamentals of groundwater hydrology to real-world challenges
  • Demonstrated ability, energy and enthusiasm to undertake fieldwork (hydrogeological supervision of drilling and bore construction, aquifer testing or groundwater sampling)
  • Competency in the use of MS Excel and Python and ideally relevant industry software such as Surfer, AQTESOLV, QGIS, MLU, ESdat, LogPlot
  • An appreciation of relevant Queensland and Commonwealth legislation and water policy
  • A valid Australian Driver’s License and excellent driving history (4WD experience is an advantage)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in the preparation of technical reports
  • Ability to manage your own time and priorities to assist the team in meeting project objectives and deadlines
  • A desire to learn, be mentored and mentor graduates or other early career professionals.

If you’re looking to be part of a team that values innovation and empowers you to make a real impact, EMM could be the place for you.

When you submit your application, look out for our email confirming safe receipt and important information regarding the next steps.
