AFRY’s Energy Division is one of the world's largest and most successful independent energy consulting and engineering firms. It offers expert technical consulting, engineering, supervision, and project management services in the fields of hydropower, thermal power, nuclear power, renewable energy, and power transmission & distribution. We support clients in managing their assets throughout the entire project lifecycle, delivering both new construction and rehabilitation projects, as well as services for existing assets—backed by deep sectoral knowledge.
AFRY’s Hydro Unit is a globally recognized leader in hydro-technical consulting. Our experience spans: over 500 Hydropower Plant Projects, 450 Power Transmission Projects, 170 Power Distribution Projects, 200 Dams and Reservoir Projects, 150 Tunnels and Shafts (with a combined length exceeding 1200 km). These projects have been executed across more than 50 countries.
The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals and develops study programs, specifications, budget and schedules for projects of varying complexity.
- Should be able to identify and define hydraulics related problems, devise technical approaches and methodologies to solve these problems.
- Interprets design input data and performs analytical studies.
- Performs detailed calculation and prepares calculation packages for cost-efficient designs.
- Prepares letters to clients and provide regulatory support as required.
- Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Continually updates automation work processes knowledge and skills, innovation, and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Liaising and assisting the Project Manager and Section Manager to ensure technical aspects relating to the design team(s) can achieve a successful result.
Job Knowledge:
- Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of Hydraulics engineering in a project or group. Possesses basic skills listed in summary above. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Coordinates Hydraulic design work effort in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
- Thorough knowledge of Hydraulics engineering deliverables and possessing capability to originate engineering and design calculations.
- Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
- Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
- Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the hydraulics engineering.
- Skill in oral and written communication.

Qualifications
- M.Tech or equivalent in Water Resources or Hydraulics Engineering from the recognized university.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience of working in an Engineering Design office or Consultancy of repute on engineering hydraulics works scope such as design of Hydraulic Structures (Dam, Barrage, Spillways, Energy Dissipation Arrangement, Intakes, Surge Tank etc), Hydraulic Transient Analysis in Closed Conduit Systems, Numerical / Hydraulic Physical Model Studies, Open Channel Flows and River Hydraulics.
- Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of current industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and local practices relevant to India.
- A strong, self-motivated and assertive person capable of working under pressure.
