About the Role
The SOC Expert is part of a global hardware specialist team responsible for developing complex cockpit domain controllers, infotainment systems, ADAS ECUs, and central compute units within Harman’s automotive platforms.
This role involves participation in SoC‑specific development activities for global projects.
What You Will Do
Design and implement Multicore processors (SOC/SIP) within projects and products inside business unit Intelligent Cockpit, in alignment with Harman’s SOC roadmap and project scope.
Be in regular contact with Processor supplier for technical clarification required by the projects/platforms.
Assist in the analysis and evaluation of customer requirements (RFQ) and BOM estimates.
Development, test and verification of analog/digital functional blocks (e.g. SOC/SIP, NOR-flash) within complex hardware architectures under considering of quality, cost and suitability for series.
Schematic design activities dedicated to Multicore processors.
System level schematic review and SOC specific layout review.
Test and analysis of application and driver software in infotainment computer systems with the aim to ensure correct functionality of software with dedicated hardware.
Global cooperation with peer HW groups and other departments, such as Software, Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing during the development process.
Supporting Bring-up activities of new hardware projects with focus on HW topics.
Maintenance support for legacy projects/platforms.
Execute special projects on behalf of the disciplinary superior.
Creation of measurement reports and technical documentation.
What You Need To Be Successful
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Electronics &Telecommunications or appropriate graduation).
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the field of embedded systems, SOCs or processors, microelectronics.
Good knowledge of the requirements inside the automotive industry.
Good knowledge of tools for schematic/layout realization and simulation (e.g. Mentor XpeditionVX2.x, Graphics, SPICE) as well as Microsoft applications.
Fundamental understanding of processor architectures and their interfaces in embedded designs.
General understanding of:
Knowledge in Functional Safety appreciated.
Good knowledge in spoken and written English.
Proactivity and good communication skills.
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience with hardware debugging and using lab tools.
Basic knowledge in command shell programming and shell debugging (e.g. routines to control hardware units under Harman operating system).
Awareness of debug-interfaces like JTAG, Boundary-scan, Boot-mode configuration, …
Familiar with engineering tools like TeamCenter, ALM, JIRA, Doors NextGen, …
Structured, organized and result-oriented working style.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills for debugging, testing and optimization.
Ability of work in global team (Romania, Germany, US, China).
