Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
- Design, test and bring-up electronic equipment per a defined specification addressing desired functionality, performance, and reliability
- Support writing software for hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Take ownership of the design including driving key component and PCB design choices
- Support electrical system architecture trade studies
- Perform supporting analyses such as loads and thermal analysis
Required
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and best practices Power conversion (linear and switching regulators)
- High-speed digital design and layout
- Signal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)
- Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)
- Schematic capture and PCB design
- Experience with electrical component selection
- Experience with ECAD software
- Hands-on experience with building and debugging hardware
- Great communication skills including fluency in English
Desired
- Advanced degree in relevant discipline
- 3+ years of working experience in relevant industry (aerospace, automotive, medical)
- Proficiency with ECAD programs, specifically Altium Designer
- Design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees
- Designing for high EMI environments
- Experience designing for high reliability / harsh environments
- Competency with MCAD programs such as CATIA, Autodesk and Solidworks
- Competency in embedded Linux, Python and C++
