THE ROLE

The HVACR Technicianis responsible forinstalling,operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related building systems throughout Huntington Place. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, this role helps ensure critical building systemsoperatesafely, efficiently, and reliably to support conventions, exhibitions, andspecial events

This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment issues, and supports energy optimization initiatives whilemaintainingcompliance with applicable safety regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled trades professional with strong diagnostic abilities and a commitment to providing exceptional facility support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

HVACR Systems Maintenance

  • Install,maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and steam distribution systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR equipment to maximize reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Optimizesystem performance to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility consumption.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform corrective repairs.

Controls & Equipment

  • Install,maintain, and repair HVACR control systems, including pneumatic and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.

  • Operate diagnostic equipment, testing instruments, laptops, and specialized tools to evaluate system performance.

  • Calibrate andmaintainelectronic and pneumatic testing equipment.

Mechanical & Technical Support

  • Read and interpret blueprints, piping diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

  • Perform brazing, soldering, welding, pipefitting, and sheet metal fabrication asrequired

  • Install gauges and properly evacuate and charge refrigeration systems.

  • Replace filters, repair drainage systems, install humidifiers, and connect associated water and drain piping.

Facility Operations

  • Respond promptly to service calls and equipment failures throughout the facility.

  • Maintainaccuratemaintenance records and document completed repairs.

  • Support Engineering Services projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Performadditionalduties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational goals.

  • Reliable operation of HVACR and refrigeration systems throughout the facility.

  • Timely completion of preventive maintenance and repair activities.

  • Safe, energy-efficient operation of building mechanical systems.

  • Compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Accuratemaintenancedocumentation and equipment records.

  • Exceptional support for building operations and event readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education, trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent HVACR training preferred.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience installing,maintaining, and repairing commercial HVACR systems; trade school or apprenticeship experience may be considered toward experience requirements.

  • Experience working in commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, convention center, or similar large facilities preferred.

  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, mechanical, and electrical skills, with experience using testing equipment, computerized controls, and reading blueprints and schematics.

  • Working knowledge of HVACR systems, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and preventive maintenance practices.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and commitment to teamwork.

Special Requirements, Licenses & Certifications

Candidates mustpossessone or more of the following licenses or certifications, with the ability to obtainadditionalcertifications asrequired

  • EPA Refrigerant Certification

  • Limited Electrician License (Low Energy and/or Refrigeration)

  • High Pressure Boiler Operator License

  • Natural Gas Certification

  • Plumber's License

  • Other applicable state or local HVACR licenses and certifications

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This positionoperatesthroughout a large convention center and mechanical plant environment.

Physical requirements may include:

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, bending, and crouching.

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, confined spaces, and elevated work areas.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, moving mechanical equipment, and outdoor weather conditions.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencycall-outsas operational needs require.
