Responsible for all chillers located with the SCDC to include supervising and instructing assigned inmates and those at Institutions assigned as chiller operators.
Supervises and assists in emergency repairs to chillers and related equipment and systems.
Supervises and assists in the performance of preventative maintenance of chillers and related equipment and systems.
Reviews and approves requisitions for materials needed for general maintenance of chillers and systems.
Instructs and trains operators in the operation of chillers throughout the agency.
Makes necessary tests and collects data and uses it to improve efficiency and performance of chillers.
Maintains adequate records of chillers performance.
Prepare specifications for replacement of equipment.
Performs all duties relating to chillers water treatment including contracts for supplying chemicals.
Position is on call to respond to emergencies. CDL required or obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
High school diploma and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems.
A high school diploma and five (5) years of trades experience directly related to chillers.
A degree in a related field of study may be substituted for the required five (5) years of experience.
Must be EPA (class 2) certified for refrigerant handling.
Must be able to supervise, direct, instruct and work effectively with other people.
