This position is responsible for performing installation, maintenance, and repairs of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment at City-owned facilities.

Examples of Duties:

  • Perform installation, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various HVAC equipment including split systems, package units, rooftop units, bay heaters, and mini splits.

  • Install, maintain, and repair ice machines.

  • Operate specialized equipment and tools related to the trade discipline.

  • Lead maintenance crews at worksites, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.

  • Receive, prioritize, and distribute work orders according to division procedures.

  • Estimate project materials from blueprints and purchase necessary supplies.

  • Maintain records of all work performed.

  • Work extended hours during equipment and building shutdowns.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or high school diploma with some additional continuing education through certification program

  • 6 - 10 years of experience

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Associate degree preferred

  • Experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair

  • Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems

  • Valid driver's license

  • Confined Space Training certification required within 6 months of hire

  • Respiratory Training certification required within 6 months of hire

  • Swimming Pool / Spa Certification required within 6 months of hire

Other Necessary Requirements:

  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

  • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
