Job Location

Cockrill Bend-FacilitiesThis position is responsible for performing a variety of standard to complex and highly diversified
technical tasks related to troubleshooting, installing, maintaining and repairing heating/cooling,
ventilation systems according to safety, predictive maintenance systems and processes. The position
must have knowledge of control systems. These team members help the organization facilities and
equipment continues to run smoothly and operate efficiently. HVAC Technicians are to continuously
develop their trade of expertise and can work independently in the performance of standard
maintenance and repairs. The team members in this role must be collaborative and customer focused.

The HVAC Technician will promote a positive work environment that celebrates our vision, mission and
core values in every action and interaction with team members, donors, customers, management and
persons served.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains and completes repairs on all of Goodwill’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and completes preliminary maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Effectively and safely operates a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Interprets blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and work orders.
  • Accurately completes work orders and maintenance repair items in a timely manner and ensures that all work orders are handled in a professional manner.
  • Monitors, inspects, diagnoses, troubleshoots, updates, and repairs malfunctioning HVAC equipment.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Provides leaders and their manager an estimate on the cost for repairs.
  • Maintains and secures their vehicle with the tools and equipment needed for their assigned work orders.
  • Continuously ensures equipment is operated and maintained in a safe operating condition.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship.

Experience

  • 5 years experience in HVAC or similar skilled trades.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make effective decisions.
  • Must maintain a level of expertise in one or more skilled trades.
  • Ability to coordinate schedules and maintain multiple work orders at multiple locations.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly, and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time-management skills, and must be able to pay attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently toward assigned goals and objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use common hand/power tools.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs objects.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid Drivers license
  • Certifications in one or more trades (i.e. Electrical/Plumbing /Carpentry)

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

  • Plumbing, Electrical, and/or EPA certification
  • Certified experience in one or more skilled trades from college or technical school
