Job Description

As a Lincoln HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems and associated controls serving client facilities and campus buildings. You will help ensure occupant comfort, system reliability, energy efficiency, and compliance with applicable mechanical and safety codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC-R systems and equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, rooftop units, condensers, compressors, pumps, and cooling towers.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including filter changes, coil cleaning, belt and bearing inspection, refrigerant checks, and inspection of associated controls.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls malfunctions associated with HVAC equipment including motors, contactors, relays, transformers, VFDs, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Install, repair, and adjust pneumatic and electronic control systems, including thermostats, sensors, actuators, and dampers.
  • Monitor building automation system (BAS) points to track equipment performance, respond to alarms, and make authorized adjustments to schedules, setpoints, and equipment operation.
  • Handle refrigerants in accordance with EPA Section 608 requirements, including recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, recordkeeping, and proper handling of recovered refrigerant.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, PPE, ladder and lift safety, refrigerant handling, and hazard communication.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to support installation, troubleshooting, and repair work. Properly maintain company-issued tools, test instruments, vehicles, equipment, and assigned parts and materials.
  • Respond to tenant and occupant comfort calls and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order documentation, and parts and supply inventories.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors on specialized repairs, equipment replacements, and capital projects.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable mechanical, energy, and refrigeration codes and all safety regulations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours HVAC system emergencies as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of a technical, vocational, or HVAC apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of commercial or industrial HVAC-R service and maintenance experience; experience with central plant equipment, commercial refrigeration, and building automation systems preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • State or local HVAC license or certification as required by jurisdiction.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC-R systems, refrigerants, pneumatic and electronic controls, and applicable mechanical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Outlook, Excel, and work order or CMMS systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, elevated work areas, and restricted-access spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with temperature extremes, noise, and exposure to refrigerants and mechanical equipment.

This position is 100% in-office. The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.
