HVAC Technician – JLL

What this job involves: As an HVAC Technician with JLL, you'll be an essential member of our facilities operations team, ensuring critical building systems operate reliably and efficiently. You'll monitor, operate, and maintain complex mechanical systems including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, and water treatment equipment that keep our client's facility comfortable and operational. Working under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, you'll perform both preventative and corrective maintenance while utilizing building automation systems and diagnostic tools to optimize performance. This role offers hands-on experience with diverse HVAC equipment in a dynamic environment where your technical skills directly impact building operations and occupant satisfaction.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Monitor and operate building systems and equipment through building automation and alarm systems, making necessary adjustments to optimize performance and respond to operational needs.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on boiler systems, chiller systems, rooftop units (RTUs), and related mechanical equipment with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to maintenance schedules.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge, performing corrective maintenance to restore systems to proper operation.

  • Conduct chemical analysis and water treatment monitoring to optimize system performance and equipment longevity across utility systems.

  • Document all work performed, complete work orders accurately and timely in the maintenance management system, and maintain comprehensive records of equipment service history.

  • Research and order supplies, parts, and materials as needed to support maintenance operations and keep equipment inventory adequately stocked.

  • Maintain assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring mechanical rooms and equipment spaces remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • 1 to 2 years of related experience in HVAC operations and maintenance in commercial or institutional settings.

  • EPA Universal Certification.

  • This role falls under Local Union 559. Candidates must be current members or eligible to join the union within 90 days of hire.

  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with boiler systems, chilled water systems, rooftop units, and water treatment systems.

  • Ability to understand, operate, and interpret diagnostic equipment and testing instruments for troubleshooting mechanical systems.

  • General knowledge of computer operations for building automation systems, work order management, and documentation.

  • Physical capability to regularly lift bulky or moderately heavy weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier tasks requiring pushing, pulling, or material handling.

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to work under frequent deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related trades

  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management platforms

  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling (Section 608)

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order processing and documentation

  • Basic plumbing, electrical, or controls troubleshooting skills applicable to HVAC systems

  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent recurring equipment issues

Location: Tuskegee, AL

Work Shift: The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Candidates must also be flexible to work after hours or weekends as needed, which will be managed through an on-call rotation schedule.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
