Job Description

Operate, maintain, and repair arena HVAC systems and central plant equipment to support event operations, occupant comfort, and safe, efficient building performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain arena HVAC systems including RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, exhaust/make-up air, and associated controls.
  • Operate and maintain chiller/boiler plant equipment including pumps, valves, and hydronic distribution systems.
  • Support event operations by pre-conditioning spaces to setpoints, monitoring comfort during events, and adjusting schedules/airflow for crowd load.
  • Monitor the building automation system (ALC), respond to alarms, and trend/adjust setpoints and schedules to optimize comfort and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC mechanical and controls issues to restore service quickly and minimize event disruption.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (filters, belts, bearings, lubrication, coils, drain pans) and complete assigned work orders.
  • Coordinate and assist contractors/subcontractors, verify scope completion, and maintain organized, clean, and safe mechanical areas.
  • Monitor capital projects and contractor work to ensure workmanship, safety, and installation quality meet organizational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with safety practices (LOTO, lift safety) and environmental requirements, including proper refrigerant handling and documentation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • General HVAC knowledge required
  • Refrigerant Certification required
  • Prior maintenance and plumbing experience required
  • Carpentry skills preferred
  • Some electrical knowledge required
  • Ability to operate PC monitors
  • Must have access to reliable transportation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use arms and hands to work, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to access systems. Position requires heavy lifting, and equipment operation. This position requires work both indoors and out and is subject to adverse conditions. Requires the ability to work in elevated spaces such as off a lift or on a catwalk.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to normal business hours.
  • This position requires work inside and/or outside of the building as needed by events and is subject to changing climate and adverse weather conditions.
  • The worker is subject to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on the job task and events in the building.
  • Must have knowledge of safe operation of all tools required to perform necessary job functions. These tools can include, but not limited to, sharp cutters, reamers, drills, gas cutting torches, benders and equipment such as service carts, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • The worker is subject to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on the job task and events in the building.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The candidate will have an opportunity to join a Local Union upon completion of the 90-day probationary period. Union membership, fees and dues are required upon successful completion of probationary period payable by employee. This position offers a competitive salary and benefit package.

RAY RATE: $31.00 - 35.00 / hour
