Purpose of the Position

The HVAC Technician at our solar manufacturing facility is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal operating conditions conducive to efficient and safe manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate monitor, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including heating units, ventilation systems, AHU’s, EU’s, RTO’s, RTU’s, Chillers, air conditioning units, and refrigeration equipment. Ensure all HVAC systems operate efficiently and meet environmental and safety standards. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as route inspections, cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts to prevent system breakdowns and ensure longevity.
  • Monitor and regulate environmental conditions within the manufacturing facility, including temperature, humidity, and air quality, to meet production requirements and ensure the comfort and safety of personnel. Implement energy-saving measures to optimize HVAC system performance and reduce energy consumption.
  • Prepare and submit reports on HVAC system status, maintenance schedules, and completed work.
  • Use Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor system performance and identify issues.
  • Respond promptly to HVAC-related emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions or system failures, to minimize production downtime and mitigate potential safety hazards. Diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed records of HVAC system installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including service reports, work orders, and equipment manuals. Generate reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and energy usage to inform decision-making and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards governing HVAC systems and manufacturing operations. Identify and address potential safety hazards associated with HVAC equipment and ensure compliance with applicable safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC technician training program or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Experience with chiller operation, pumps, compressors, air handling units, operations, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Proven experience as an HVAC technician, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems, including knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Must have EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Willingness to learn about modern technologies and adapt to changing work requirements.
  • Flexibility to work on call, overtime, and weekends as needed to support production schedules and team needs.

The range for this position is ​$30.12 hourly rate - $41.90 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
