Join an elite mission supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the Southern California region, where your technical expertise will support the operation and maintenance of climate-critical infrastructure across high-security federal sites. As an HVAC Technician for DAWSON’s maintenance team, you’ll help ensure system reliability, environmental control, and energy efficiency for a diverse portfolio of buildings. From border patrol stations to field offices, your skills will directly support the health, safety, and readiness of those protecting our nation’s borders.
Location: Southern California (San Diego/El Centro Region)
Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics on HVAC systems including rooftop units, air handlers, split systems, VAV boxes, boilers, chillers, and related control systems.
Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize HVAC system performance in accordance with OEM guidelines and regulatory standards.
Calibrate thermostats, controls, dampers, actuators, and test for air and water balance.
Track refrigerant usage and submit greenhouse gas emissions data as required.
Document service tasks in the CMMS (TRIRIGA), including part numbers, repair notes, and compliance records.
Maintain HVAC system cleanliness, change filters, and perform seasonal system transitions.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE, and CBP safety standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience in commercial or government facilities.
Valid EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
Journeyman-level certification in HVAC or equivalent state licensure preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical HVAC systems and diagnostic tools.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
Ability to work in varied environmental conditions and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible for CBP background investigation and suitability clearance.
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
