Job Description

Job Summary:

The HVAC Supervisor directly supervises, trains, and guides a team of 10 HVAC technicians performing installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC, controls, and boiler systems on a government contract. The Supervisor coordinates with government representatives, subcontractors, and the Project Manager to ensure work is executed on time and in compliance with contract requirements, and is responsible for the technical quality, safety, and documentation of the crew's work.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise, train, and guide a team of 10 HVAC technicians.
  • Coordinate with government representatives, subcontractors, and the Project Manager to ensure timely and compliant project execution.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including chillers up to 125 tons, Air Handling Units (AHU), and Make-Up Air Units (MAU), across major brands such as Daikin, Trane, Carrier, and Rheem.
  • Supervise maintenance and troubleshooting of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and Siemens building automation systems.
  • Manage and supervise service of commercial boiler systems, including RayPak, Lochinvar, Weil-McLain, and Aldrich.
  • Ensure optimal performance and preventive maintenance of hot and chilled water pumps and cooling towers.
  • Conduct system inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Maintain documentation, logs, and maintenance records, and ensure technicians close out work orders accurately and on time.
  • Assign and prioritize daily work across the crew, and adjust staffing to cover service calls, PM schedules, and emergent repairs.
  • Review technician work for completeness and technical accuracy before close-out.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety Requirements:

  • Complies with and actively participates in the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Perform all assigned work safely and reasonably that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, Customers, the Company, and/or the public.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Through leadership and personal example, exemplify a personal commitment to and support of the Company/Project Safety Culture.
  • Monitor subordinate safety compliance, ensuring safety is an integral part of all work activities.
  • Take appropriate corrective action (stop-work, remedial training, disciplinary action, etc.) when subordinates fail to comply with established OSH policies & procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.
  • Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Never talk on the phone without hand free option or text message while operating in a company vehicle or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption, or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs, and/or alcohol.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and base access.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • EPA Universal certification.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, HVAC principles, and applicable safety codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and manage a team effectively.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; HVAC-related technical training or certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on HVAC experience in commercial and residential environments.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in HVAC operations.

Preferred:

  • Certification or training in Siemens DDC controls.
  • Experience working on government or military installations.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.
  • Experience with project scheduling and cost estimating.
