This is a fulltime maintenance position working 40 hours a week (5/8's). There is no per diem and no relocation assistance.

HVAC Operator

The HVAC Operator is responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units throughout the district. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, Plan, and Perform Preventive Maintenance of HVAC System.
  • Plan shutdowns for maintenance and repair pumps including chill water, heating water and condensation pumps.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication.
  • Read complex blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning, glycol, heating, hot water, and steam distribution equipment and systems to optimize performance and energy use.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and make modifications to HVAC System.
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC Equipment.
  • Manage relationships with all major vendor accounts.
  • Properly maintain and safeguard district assets.
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience – 3-5 years of Industrial experience to include working on chillers.

Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.

Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
